of the land in Namibia is under some form of conservation management

Responsible Travel

A conservancy is an area of land where the responsibility of managing natural resources is put in the hands of the community that lives there. The Tourism sector has played a big role in the conservancy movement; joint ventures have been created between the private sector and the communities. These resulted in Lodges or Camps being run by the locals. We are proud to say we were one of the first ones to get involved in this beautiful movement and we now have three joint venture camps in Namibia: Granietkop, Khowarib and Tsinsabis.

These camps are a great way to participate in responsible tourism. First of all you will be in direct contact with locals who can share their stories but most importantly you can be sure that these communities will benefit from your stay through the job opportunities that they are offered and the money that will be redistributed for the community.

Projects

Oshifo village

Traveling is of course the discovery of new horizons, new landscapes. But immersion can not be total without a good deal of sharing with natives.

At African Eagle, we are also sensitive to these small meetings that change you a trip, which is why we have invested in an exclusive partnership with a community. And it is in the village of Oshifo in the heart of Ovamboland that the adventure began almost five years ago with the small community of Okapika.

The aim is twofold: firstly, to enable this local community to develop sustainable activities through tourism and traditional agriculture. Secondly, it allows us to propose to our visitors a human encounter and a unique experience through a traditional cooking activity in relation to the local culture of mahango (sorghum) among others.

In Oshifo, we offer 8 campsites with sanitary facilities and 8 Ensuite tents (private bathrooms). Your hosts, Rose and Bruno will be happy to tell you anecdotes around a drink or by the fire.

TOSCO

Major challenges like biodiversity conservation outside of National parks have to be taken up by the current generations; especially the fight against loss of habitat and poaching.

Everyone should take their responsibilities in this fight including the tourism industry who clearly has a major role to play. But so fare, we are not winning and much more needs to be done if we are to secure and healthy world for us and the next generation.

TOSCO has decided to be up to the challenge in the name of tourism and make a difference for the good of the Namibian’s natural resources and its people.

Little Bugs

In Namibia there are many beautiful projects.

We have embarked on a beautiful joint-venture journey with two conservancies and are busy creating new projects.
Granietkop and Khowarib are two tented camps, in remote and unspoilt locations of Namibia. These camps are fully run by the local community and the benefits go directly back to them.
For more information check out “Our Camps”.

But if we really want to “make a difference” it is not just about what we do, but what others do aswell and supporting them is very important. We believe the Little Bugs free pre-school, is one of the most beautiful community projects in Namibia.

Please take a few minutes of your time to have a look at their website and their wonderful video.
